For this week's AOW, I saw a variety of subjects! This week was probably the one week where I learned the most about everything that is going on in the world. Some articles were about social media, Ebola, ISIS, deadly bacteria, vertical gardens, and many more. One subject that was very popular during all weeks, ISIS. They seem to be making headlines every single week, but it always something different with them. This week, they released 19 hostages because they wanted to make sure they were following their type of rules. ISIS is also "recruiting" women to come and join ISIS. A 16 year old and two 15 year olds went to Iraq hoping to join them. I thought that this was important because this is an example of ISIS starting to grow and become more powerful. Although, there were other articles about ISIS backing down, and stopping all of the killings. I really do hope that ISIS stops with their killings and capturing hostages. If they decide not to stop, other countries will take action.
Something else I learned this week, was that there are many different kinds of vaccines for diseases. There is one vaccine for Ebola that has helped multiple people, but others believe that there are too many challenges that still need to be faced with this disease. The vaccines have cured monkeys with the disease, but they still don't know if it is safe enough to give to many people. The vaccine could be used to prevent future outbreaks, but no one knows for sure. There has also been a deadly bacteria outbreak. No one really knows where is came from, and there are no visible vaccines for it. This bacteria lives in soil and water, and it is is threat to our food and water. These are very important for the world to know about because diseases and viruses could potentially affect millions and millions of people.
Your right, ISIS does come out with new headlines each week and I find that sad. Your blog was very clear and easy to understand, especially when explaining the vaccinations. I like how you gave an example of a bacteria and went a bit in depth with facts about it. Great job!
ReplyDeleteGood blog this week. I also think that the rest of the countries need to take action if ISIS continues its evil ways. I liked that you talked about the vaccines because not to many chose to blog about them. Nice and clear writing.
