Dorothy Must Die Week of: 1/26/15

Prompt: Who is your favorite character in the book you are currently reading?
Pages Read: 40-69

I am going to be completely honest, I haven't been reading as much as I probably should be. I think that the book I am reading is starting very slowly, just like many other books. So far in the book, not much has been happening. Amy, is actually kind of happy to be in a mysterious version of Oz. She said that it is so much  better than being at home, in a boring place. She really wants to go to new places and discover so many things about her surroundings and herself. I really think that Amy is my favorite character so far in the book. It is kind of hard to choose a character, because we haven't been introduced to many people in the book.

Amy has some characteristics that make you like her more. She is very brave for everything that she has gone through. Being suspended for 10 days, not having a mother there for her, and being stranded in some random place with nothing to help her. I mean, she has been through so much stuff in the past 2 days. In my opinion, I would have probably lost my mind and given up. That's just how I am. But Amy is different. She has a very optimistic mind about everything that has happened to her. She figured out that her mother isn't going to change, and she has to be responsible for herself and others around her. She didn't become depressed or mad, she just moved on and dealt with it.

While being in Oz, she is obviously going to encounter some obstacles. With having very little information about the place, all she got was "Don't make the mistakes she did". That is what the guy she met said to her right before he left. She didn't know what that meant, because she didn't know who "she" is. I want to predict, that they're talking about Dorothy. Amy does not get discouraged about not knowing what that meant, she is more curious about it. That's what I really do admire about her.

  2. Good job Amelia! I love how well you explained Dorothy's bravery. You don't give enough information, thats good because too much is spoiling. Therefore, it is actually just enough. I want to find out more on all the adventure's Dorothy has been going through. This book is on my to-read list!

  3. Good Blog this week Amelia. My blog is on the original version of the Wizard of Oz so I thought it would be king of cool to see how your version is different from mine. I love how you described Amy. A brave and outgoing person that can handle a lot. Very different from Dorothy in the original version who is kind of fragile. I really want to read this book!
