Poetry Reflection

Poetry Essential Questions

In my life, poetry means something to me. If a poem said something meaningful, I understand it’s point and it actually teaches me something. I have written poems, read several of them, and helped others make their poems great. I like to write poems because it gives me the chance to reflect on my life and how everything comes to together and connects. I like to do this because sometimes I make mistakes, and everyone should learn about them so they don’t make the same ones. Sometimes I don’t learn, and I do it over and over again. This is why reflecting is really important. This is important because every person should look at every mistake and progress they have made or done.

In one poem that I have read, they talk about what means something to them and how they think everything works. Everyone has an opinion and everyone can think what they want to think and believe. Poems teach people how other people’s lives are and how they should be grateful or melancholy about that one subject. I like to read poems that teach me something, and ones that I can learn something about someone. I love to learn about how other people live and how others think. Everyone’s definition of poetry is different. Some people love to learn, some like to be entertained, and some like to be persuaded to think something. The personality of someone tells whether they are meant for poetry or not. Some people might be so creative and they can make the funniest most interesting poems. Some people are very serious and they write about their life and how they think the world runs. Some people are in the middle and they can’t really find what to write about. A lot of people don’t know what to write about and they just don’t write at all. In my opinion, I am one of the people in the middle. Sometimes I don’t know what to write, and other times I have so many creative juices flowing that I can’t even control it. Maybe a little bit closer to creative than in the middle.

A poet usually writes about themselves, or things that have happened to them. The way a poet lives can affect the tone and mood of their poem, and it can make their poem better or worse. The experiences of a poet can really change, and it comes out in their poems. A lot of poets have experienced things that are so hard to deal with, and they tell that story in a poem of their own. In my life, I haven’t really gone through some things other children have. Some just aren’t as fortunate and they have problems that I wouldn’t be able to deal with. Some people are strong and some are weak. This can change what they write about because the perspective can change. Poems can be about so many different things and how it effects people in their lives. If someone is in poverty, their poem will probably be much different than a person that lives in a huge mansion and they have a lot of money to waist. Everyone is different from one another, and sometimes poems are the same exact way.

My life experiences are different than everyone else’s. Sometimes I wonder about what my life would be in other people’s shoes. What if I could go into the life of a famous poet, and see what they think and see what they are experiencing. I love the fact that a poet can just think about one thing in their life, and make an amazing poem from it. I’m not able to do anything like that. I usually only write poems about nature, love, and life. Or something that is fictional or not true. My life experiences aren’t like other peoples, so that makes everyone different. I know that if I write a song or a poem, it would have to be about me or my experiences. Some things make me want to write, some things inspire me to reflect. People can help me do that, nature and love can too. Poetry can be an essential in some lives, but definitely not in all of them.
