Insurgent Week of: 4/1/14

Prompt: What is the mood of what you're reading (happy, sad, funny, serious, etc.)?
Pages Read: 68-233

Insurgent is an amazing book so far. I really like it because it has very explicit details and the book reminds me of Divergent so much. I love how the Divergent "species" is super rare and that if you are Divergent you should be killed. I don't really like this because Tobias and Tris are both Divergent and they have risked their lives so many times, it wouldn't be fair if they got killed. Over the break I saw the movie Divergent, the movie wasn't the same as the book. I know this happens a lot, but this time it was different. Overall I really liked that movie and book.

In the parts that I am reading right now, the mood is very serious and calm. All of the characters are finally noticing how important life is and how they need to take everything that is happening seriously. I love how you are finally seeing how all of the characters are finding out how they truly are. We are learning how each character responds to pressure and what they will do under the circumstances. The characters are becoming more serious when it comes to battle and training but they can also be funny or happy. Most of the time, the mood is very serious and very melancholy because so many innocent people are dying.

I like this book because of the mood it has. The mood makes the story what it is, dramatic, heartbreaking, funny, and interesting. Everything about these books are amazing. The characters, setting, mood, tone, plot, and conflicts. These books are so well written and they are so unique. I have never read a book like this one. I recommend this book to all of my peers because it teaches you a lesson without you even knowing. I love this book and I am so excited to continue reading!

  2. Great blog! I like how you described the moods of the parts your reading and how the book was different from the movie. I too thought it was different but it wasn't that bad to the point where they changed a lot which is good.

  3. Great blog. Good job describing your mood and opinion on the book. I had heard the movie was nothing like the book. Sounds like you really like the book. Enjoy!

  4. It would make sence being so close to Divergent, I mean, they are sequels. You said that being Divergent was like a species, and that reminds me of the Nazis. They thought of Jews the same way and descriminated against them also. Good blog.

  5. Amelia,
Great job with your blog this week, I really enjoyed it! The one thing that I don't agree with, with your blog is that I actually think the movie was a lot like the book, accept for certain parts. I think it was pretty accurate portrayal of the book overall. I really like how you described the mood, and why you like the book so far. You were very detailed and it was really nice! You had a blog that wasn't too long, but long enough to put in the perfect amount of details. I also really like how you talked about Divergent as well, it was great to sort of look back! So, overall great blog this week, and I look forward to reading more of your blogs in the future.

  7. I have not yet seen the movie so thus us a bit of a spoiler for me. I have hear that despite their differences the book and the movie are both equally great. What do you think about this? I'm not exactly what part you mean is serious and calm. Several parts in the book have that feeling, in my opinion.
