Prompt: If you were the author, what would you change? Why?
Pages Read: 349-487 DONE
If I were the author of this book, I would have changed a couple of things. First, I would change some of the character's names. I'm not really sure why I would do this, but some of their names are hard to pronounce or they just don't match the character. The character Tobias doesn't seem like a guy who would have that kind of name. It makes him unique but I just don't see him like that. I like te name Tris because it is different, and the character Tris is different too.
Another thing that I would have changed is the setting. Sometimes I don't really understand where the setting is, so I would have made some of the settings more obvious than hidden. The author made a lot of the other settings clear but one that I got confused about was the Dauntless compound. Sometimes I didn't understand how the building worked or how it was built inside.
Those are the few things that I would change. Now that I am finally done with the book, I understand what the book meant and how it works. Before, I was always confused with what was happening. I never know how hard their live's were and how they felt. This book was really good. It always was interesting and I never wanted to stop reading. I am reading Insurgent, which is the second book of this series. I totally recommend this book to my classmates because it is interesting and because it teaches you some lessons.

That seems better if they had been named differently because they really don't fit. Tris and Tobias? Um, no. Good blog.
ReplyDeleteGood blog. I like how you gave reasoning behind all of your answers to what you would change. My Mom is reading this series and she loves it. Good blog.
ReplyDeleteYou would change the names of characters? I wouldn't really care about that. You can name someone Staph, I wouldn't really care. My last name is Fiesta... It's good having a weird name. Good blog.
ReplyDeleteI am glad so many people are reading the Divergent series, they truly are amazing. I actually have to disagree on Tobias's name. I feel that his interesting name fits his interesting character. Great blog, you should definitely see the movie!
ReplyDeleteI see your point of view with the character's name. When I read those first two names in the first paragraph, I was actually surprised because I never thought that the author would come up with those names. I've always heard that this series was very remarkable. Maybe the author left the setting for you to make up. Amazing blog this week!
ReplyDeleteI agree that the setting is implicit in the first book of the Divergent trilogy, but it becomes more clear as you read on.
