Divergent Week of: 1/27/14

Prompt: Describe the setting – when and where what you are reading takes place.
Pages Read: 132-160

This book is really interesting. Every time I start to read I never want to stop. This book is so realistic, and it has all of the qualities I like in a book. It is kind of mysterious, very clever, sometimes brutal, and sometimes emotional. Before I starte reading this book, I thought that I would never finish it because it is so long. Now I know that even though a book is boring or may seem boring, it is only the beginning and you need to finish it before you judge it. I also learned that you can not judge a book by it's cover. It doesn't help, because one of the most interesting covers could be the most boring book. A book that has a boring cover could be the most interesting book. So far, this book is great and I am really enjoying it.

The setting in this story is mainly the Dauntless base and it is where most of the events take place. This is where Tris sleeps at night, and it's where all of the other Dauntless people sleep too. Tris has gotten into some pretty intense fights there. She had to fight a guy one time, and she got beat up badly. Sometimes I feel bad for her, she has to go through so many things, and she has to deal with it. I just noticed that so far the only settings are the Dauntless base, Tris's old home, and that's really it. I really hope that more setting come up in this story, and that I get to learn about them more.

I want to connect this story to my life. Tris and her brother are separated in factions, just like me and my brother are in school. He goes to one school, and I go to another. But it is kind of different because they have to stay there for the rest of their lives, and me and my brother will eventually be together. Also, Tris has an older brother to guide her and I have a sister to guide me. If I was in Tris's shoes, I know that I would not be able to live without my siblings. I would feel alone without anyone to talk to and relate to. I really like Tris has a person because she is strong and she doesn't give up. She perseveres and she just keeps on going no matter what.

  3. I really like how you first introduced the book with saying to not judge a book by its cover. I think the cover of the book is fine but not eye catching maybe that is what is holding me back from reading the book. I especially loved how you actually admitted in loving your siblings!

  4. I liked how you gave a connection to the book and told what you thought about giving books a chance. I thought that your format was well one and I also like how you separated each paragraph with a picture! Great job! Sounds like a good book!
