Prompt: Tell me about the main character, who is he/she like?
Pages Read: 108-180
Personally, I really liked the book. I really was disappointed with the ending though. I thought that it would tell me what happened after he left, and what the echo was but it didn't. I would have liked to read on about what was happening and how it is happening. I still am kind of confused about what really happened and what the story was about. Overall I would give this book 4 stars. I thought it was, interesting, mysterious, and clever. There were so many twists that got me thinking about what was going to happen next. This also made me read more and more. I loved this book and I would love to read it over and over again!
I picked this prompt because if I described Jonas, I would be able to do it really well. He is a smart but different boy. He has pale eyes, and he can see things that other people can not see. He is a receiver, and he is getting memories from a man called The Giver. He learned so much during this process, and he is changed because of it. I like Jonas as a character because, he is very cruious about things that people in his community aren't. He is almost like me a little. I can relate to him because his family is the same as every other family in the community. His family is almost close to mine, but not exact. He has to keep secrets, and he must keep them. I have to keep secrets too! Everyone does. Jonas is curious, smart, and different which makes him a cool character!
If I had a choice between reading this book and another book like Bridge to Terabithia I would chose this book because I have already read that book, and also because The Giver seems more interesting. This is one of my favorite books now, and I don't say that a lot. I don't like a lot of books, but this one is amazing. I recommend this book to any child who like books that have great cliffhangers, and a totally different society. This is an interesting, clever, and smart book!
I liked how you compared The Giver with Bridge of Terabithia. I wonder why every chapter had some kind of cliffhanger. You did a very good job in describing your opinions about this book with specific details. I read Bridge of Terabithia when I was fourth grade and it isn't really that good compared to the Giver. ReplyDeleteWhen you mention, " I still am kind of confused about what really happened and what the story was about," what are you referring to? I think if you are more explicit in what is confusing you your classmates and myself will be able to help you clarify!
