The Giver Week of: 11/18/13

Prompt: Define what makes an interesting story or poem.
Pages Read: 0-71

I didn't think that this book would be this interesting! It just has so many different problems, facts, and a totally different society. It is just really cool to be reading about someone's life that is way different than yours. Their society is perfect, and so many things need to be perfect. If you have different colored eyes and someone says you do, it is considered so rude. Every evening at dinner time, they need to share the dream they had from the previous night. What? I never have dreams anymore, and if I do it's rarely. I wouldn't like to share my dream to my whole family because sometimes your dreams are going to happen in real life. That has happened to me before, it's called De Ja Vu, I'm not sure how you spell it though. This book makes me want to keep on reading until the book is over.

I chose this prompt because I know that this book is really interesting, and I know exactly why. The book has cliff hangers, at the end of some chapters. Honestly, I love cliff hangers because they just make me wonder and think, also because they make me want to keep on reading. Even though I have only read 10 chapters you can already tell that the book will be a good one. Sometimes I get a little confused with the book, but I end up getting it in the end. This book is overall really interesting and good to read if you want to learn something new.

So far in the book, they are apparently just getting started with all of the information. They are just finishing telling us what all of the ceremonies mean. I know that the 12 ceremony is the most important to all 12 year olds. After that, their age doesn't even matter anymore. Before that, their age was just adding up to this. You are given more responsibilities, and more trust which is really important to them. I personally really like this book, and I am excited to keep on reading.

  1. I completely agree with you! These are all of the traits that make a good book, which The Giver is. I like how you expressed your thoughts really clearly and I can understand what you mean. Great blog!
