The Healing Spell: Week Of: 10/7/13

Prompt: After reading, I wonder…
Pages: 95-197

The book keeps getting better and better. Livie hasn't woken her mother up and she is freaking out. She knows she can't keep it a secret any longer. I still don't know what she did, but it is definitely leading up to it. Her father and her Aunt Coleen, are getting really impatient. They are think she is dead. Livie has talked to her, and her mother twitched and moved. He hair moved when she was lying down, but her body didn't move. Livie knows her mother isn't dead, but she needs to find out how to tell her family.

I chose this prompt because I wondered about so many things after I read this portion of the book. I wondered... why didn't Livie tell her family about what actually happened to her mother? In books, I figured out that the main characters never do the thing we would do. I would tell someone about my mother's coma, but she didn't want to. I also wondered, why do her sisters, Faye and Crikket, do other things than worry about there mother? Faye is getting married and she is so happy. If I were her, I would never marry someone until my mother is awake. Livie knows she should tell, but she won't.

Livie is being very rude now. She doesn't cooperate with anyone. She snapped at her father, when she was trying to be nice. She is ruining everything for her family. She is being mean to her sisters and he aunt. She is giving attitude to her teacher, and her teacher is good friends with her aunt. She is being very mean, rude and melancholy. She is not happy and she is showing it. She goes to the lake, by her house and she it alone. She can be herself, and she loves that.

  1. I remember when you told me that this was a boring book. I think it is a amazing book. I don't think that I could live with myself if I cause my mothers coma. I like how you take us through a clear walk through of the story so far.

  2. Amelia,
It's probably understandable that Livie is acting this way because she maybe just can't take it that her mother is still in a coma. Faye and Crikket, it's showing disrespect to their mother even though she can't really react to it, but either way she should be worried about their mother. Hopefully further in the book she will try to calm down and not be so rude to anyone because that's not a good way to let out her emotions.

  3. Amelia,

Lovely blog post! This doesn't seem like a book I would read because from what you said, I don't know if I really like this Livie character. I understand that she is upset but her attitude must change. I hope later she realizes this. I like how you wrote this, though. Nice work. (:
