New Moon Week of: 10/27/14

Prompt: Character Development & Summary
Pages Read: 165-210

I seriously have been reading this book for way too long. I haven't had much time to read, but when I do I try and read a lot. The characters have grown a lot in my opinion. Bella and Jacob have been getting a lot closer and sometimes I don't think they are "just friends." They have been handing out a lot and they are so many mixed signals between them. I honestly don't get their relationship at this point. I just think they bring out the best in each other, if that makes sense. Jacob is starting to catch up with Bella, and she is starting to feel more comfortable with him. They have gone biking, and gone to each others house to study so I kind of feel that something is going on.

In the story, there hasn't really been much going on. She's getting closer to Jacob, and her life is pretty much the same, if anything her life is a lot brighter. She has been in a better mood, and things are going better for her. She still is mourning with the whole Edward incident, but she has been getting used to that topic and lot faster. Her father is wondering if Edward will ever come back as well, but the probability of that happening is really slim. I noticed that Jacob is now Bella's "happiness." He is the only thing that Bella actually looks forward to every day, which is so cute. I predict that Bella and Jacob will sometime soon date, and then when they do, Edward will come back. Then he will stop talking to Bella, and she would have to make a decision on which guy to choose. I don't know why I think this, but I have this feeling in my stomach that it could happen.

I understand Bella's position. First she goes through a heart break, then she meets someone, and she feels a little better. It's understandable that she has been a little bit different. Maybe happier, but when she is happy, there are going to be times where she remembers what actually is happening. This makes that moment even worse, because that will be the only thing she thinks about...

  2. Amelia,
Great Blog this week, I really enjoyed it! I think your descriptions on how Bella develops throughout the story is very thorough, as I understand where you are coming from completely but I have never read this book. I think that in her situation, and based off of your analysis, Bella should choose Jacob over Edward if she were put in a position to choose one or the other. A girl should always choose the person that she's most comfortable with, or the person that brings her the most joy and happiness, and if Bella always seems to look forward to being with Jacob, and feels happy around him, then she should try to be with him (no matter how much time she spends with Edward). Overall, I really loved your blog this week! You did an excellent job describing how Bella develops, and how her relationships with the characters influence her development, and I feel like I know what's going on in the novel, and I've never read it nor have I seen the movie.
