Book List Challenge

(Be aware that these books will not be in order of how much I like them)

1. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

This book is one of my favorites right when I started reading it. I finished the book almost near the end of the summer, and it only took me a couple weeks. I really liked how I could relate to someone of the character's emotions and how they feel toward each other and objects. I learned that you should never judge people by how they look because one day they could surprise you with something about them. I never imagined myself reading this book because I saw parts of the movies when I was younger, and I didn't really understand them.

2. The Color Purple by Alice Walker

I really enjoyed this book because I liked the way the author changed the format and made it different from most books. She made it as if the main character was sending letters and she would just tell everything that was happening to her. I really loved the main character because she showed a lot of determination with all of the problems she had to face. She was pretty much a slave and she got used for inappropriate reasons too. She tried to keep everyone happy, when she wasn't. This book really made me think about how other people have to live, and suffer without a choice. The way she lived was not good for a human, and I tried putting myself in her shoes, but it wasn't very easy.

3. The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen

I noticed that this book was one of the only ones I could really relate to. Macy was around my age and she had a couple of problems that I had in the summer too. She was really busy, and she couldn't see the person that mattered the most. Macy couldn't really control what people/ a person thought of her and that killed her inside. She has very supportive parents and they really care about her and her happiness. I believe that this book taught me that you should love what you have. Macy's father died and so many bad things happened to her after that.
4. Divergent by Veronica Roth

Divergent was an amazing book. It made me start to read many other books that I never imagined myself reading. I tried to finish the series but I got a little distracted so I couldn't. I really enjoyed reading and learning about some of the character in the book, like Tris and her brother Caleb. They made a great duo and they were very compatible even though they had their differences. They have had a lot of pressure on them ever since they picked their factions, and the pressure gets worse. You have to make life changing decisions and these characters kind of make it look easy. The whole adapting thing seems like a walk in the park for them.

5. A Tale Dark and Grimm by Adam Gitwitz

This book had so many twists and turns that made you want to read on and on and on. I think I have read the book about 3 times in all, but the first 2 times I never finished the book. I believe that it made me want to read the book even more, so I did. The characters had very interesting personalities and it made the book even more amazing! This book has very gruesome details but it kind of makes it interesting. I have never imagined the fairy tales the way the book explained it. I was surprised that these things actually happened in fairy tales, but you know it's a fiction book. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series, to be able to get all of the information cleared up.

6. Series of Unfortunate Events : The End by Daniel Handler

When I read this book, I was a little disappointed. All of the other books were better, but the only reason why it is one of my top 10 is because it finished the series well. There are a lot of things that could have been different or changed but it was overall a good book. I think I read this book in 5th grade, I pretty much read the whole series that year. I was addicted to these books because the author knew how to reach out to the reader and sometimes ask you questions. I loved the format and everything about this book.

7. The BFG by Ronald Dahl

I loved this book when I was younger. I have read it so many times and it makes me smile all the time. Most of the people thought that the giant was a big jerk, but he was really nice to the little girl. Even though he pretty much kidnapped the little girl, she was very lucky that he was nice. This book taught me that you shouldn't judge someone by the way they look. The world can be a tricky place and in this book you can definitely see that. Sometimes the mean looking people are the nicest, but that is just a possibility. The setting, characters, and the conflicts just make this book so much fun to read.

8. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

This book really made me think while I was reading it. I enjoyed it so much that I would read it over and over again. It makes your mouth drop. This book has taught me that you should never give up a dream that you have. If you really wanted it, you would never give up under any circumstances. Lenny really wanted his little farm and their own place and he didn't care about what people said about it. I'm really glad that I was given the opportunity to read this book. There were so many shocking parts in it. (especially the ending)

9. Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell

This book affected me a lot because this book was probably my first "mature" book. I read it in 4th grade and I really loved it because the circumstances she had were nothing like mine. She had to live on her own and I have never had to do that. This book helped me start reading other books that I would never read before. Event hough there were a lot of problems and hard times, she kept on thinking positively, I admire that.

10. The Giver by Lois Lowry

This book was such a pleasure to read. At first, I thought it was going to be an old boring book but I was definitely wrong. It had so many hooks on it, that made you want to continue reading on. There are only specific books that can do that to a person. It taught me that you should always have a mind of your own, and if you think something is wrong you should act on it. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I am looking forward to seeing it sometime in the future.
